ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL PROPERTIES AND CBR VALUE OF SUBGRADE WITH DYNAMIC CONE PENETROMETER (DCP) TESTING ON THE EAST SIDE OF WILADATIKA SPECIAL AIRPORT (CASE STUDY: WILADATIKA SPECIAL AIRPORT, CIBUBUR JAMBORE, TIMUR JAKARTA)

Abstract


In ideal conditions, to ensure the safety and comfort of road and runway users, the pavement area must have a flat surface, not bumpy, and not perforated or cracked (Hutasoit, 2009). However, in the runway designation marking 27 pavement areas, there are serious cracks where grass grows through the cracks and is covered by soil which is the base of the pavement layer. In this study, soil bearing capacity test and soil type were carried out on the east side of the Wiladatika Airfield, precisely in the runway designation marking 27 areas as the location for testing the soil bearing capacity using the DCP tool and the drainage area as a sampling location for soil physical properties testing. From the soil tests carried out, the results of the CBR values for the subgrade from the four test points were 3.9% at point 1; 5.1% at point 2; 6.4% at point 3; and 6.5% at point 4. Then the results of testing the physical properties of the soil obtained the results of soil moisture content of 35.48%; the specific gravity of the soil is 2,657; Distribution of Grain Size with a percentage of 3% sand, 82.5% silt, and 14.5% clay; and the Atterberg limits with LL 73.55%, PL 44.61%, and PI 28.94%. Based on the Atterberg boundary values, the land is classified using the USCS classification system and the resulting soil classification at Wiladatika Airport is MH.
