Public Sentiment Analysis on Emergency Lane Misuse and Enforcement Effectiveness in Malaysia

Abstract


This study conducts a comprehensive sentiment analysis of public perceptions regarding emergency lane misuse and enforcement effectiveness in Malaysia. Through systematic qualitative analysis of 100 social media comments from platforms including Facebook, TikTok, and Reddit between 2015-2025, this research categorizes public sentiment into positive (55%), negative (30%), and neutral (15%) orientations. Findings reveal strong public support for stringent enforcement measures, coupled with significant concerns regarding enforcement consistency, infrastructure limitations, and public confusion between Smart Lane and emergency lane designations. The study contributes to transportation policy by providing evidence-based insights for developing holistic strategies that balance enforcement, education, and infrastructure development to address persistent emergency lane misuse in Malaysia.
