DETERMINING THE LOCATION OF ALTERNATIVE INDUSTRIAL ESTATES USING THE CENTER OF GRAVITY METHOD AND FACTOR RATING

Abstract


South Sulawesi is the gateway to the economy in the eastern part of Indonesia, the Government is trying to develop the Makassar Industrial Estate more broadly. However, the land there has almost been sold out, the Government together with PT. Kima is currently working on an expansion to Maros Regency because it is not far from Makassar. Therefore, this study aims to determine whether the proposed location is optimal, has low transportation costs, meets the criteria for selecting an industrial area location and is in accordance with the National Spatial Structure Plan. In addition, this study also determines alternative locations for industrial estates in South Sulawesi Province using the Center of Gravity method to determine the location of the midpoint of the coordinates based on the location of the district/city and the Factor Rating Method to see between the 2 (two) proposed and alternative locations, which location which has the highest weight. Then considered by calculating the cost of transportation. The results showed that Maros Regency is the location that has the highest weight and the lowest transportation costs.
